How can Congress Better Support Your Meal Programs?

If your agency provides after-school or summer meal programs reimbursed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), NRPA needs your help!

The meal programs administered by the USDA through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provide reimbursements for healthy meals and snacks to children in low-income areas after school and during the summer. For many children, these may be the only nutritious meals they enjoy on a normal day.

This year Congress will be renewing The Child Nutrition Act, which authorizes the funding for these programs. The reauthorization provides the opportunity to make changes and improvements to the bill, and your input is critical.

We have heard from many of you about some of the challenges, but need your input on how these vital programs could be improved. The successful reauthorization of the Child Nutrition Act is important for children across the country and will allow us to maintain the funding and make improvements for the summer and after-school meal programs.

We need your feedback! If your agency has summer and/or after-school snacks and meals, click here to take the survey. This will help us to educate our political leaders on how to strengthen meal programs for youth.
