The total amount of economic activity created by the nation’s local and regional public parks is one hundred and forty billion dollars. One million jobs are supported by these systems. Those results are from a recent study prepared by the Center for Regional Analysis and George Mason University. The findings are based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau survey of local government employment spending data from 1,169 park systems accessed through the PRORAGIS database and/or park system budget data from online sources.
